Almost done

Most of my evaluation work is on here. I only need to add a few of the videos and images to the posts to have finished my evaluation.

Finally Slide share works

This has been the main problem with uploading power points. I was trying to upload the power points for question 3 and 4 straight to blogger, obviously this didn't work. I found slide share and had to put the power points onto that then copy the link to blogger.

Evaluation troubles

I have uploaded parts of each one of my evaluation question. The only problem is trying to upload power points and videos. This is going to take me a lot of time and I hope it doesn't make me miss the deadline for the work being handed in.

Evaluation-Conclusion

I think at the end of this project I have done reasonably well in creating ‘Soundwave.’ I tried to make the magazine as real to an actual magazine as possible, I think that ‘Soundwave’ could possibly be sold in a shop after a little bit more work and refining. The overall success of ‘Soundwave’ would be based on whether anyone would actually buy the magazine in a shop; this is hard to measure as I cannot actually market it in any major shops. However I think the cover of the magazine is quite eye catching and look reasonably authentic. This is because of the amount of time I spent making sure the cover was detailed and as close to a professional looking magazines such as ‘mixmag’ that I could, I found the only real challenge was learning to use Photoshop from scratch. During this process I have learned a lot about the form and structure of magazines from looking at authentic magazines, but it has also helped me to become more creative with the space provided on the pages, I really enjoyed the challenge of putting all of the relevant information on a page and playing around with different styles and layouts until it looks great. The double page spread was my favourite page to produce and I do think it shows with the unique but easy to read design of the article. Overall I think ‘Soundwave’ if it was to be produced and sold in a shop would attract the target audience of drum & bass music. This is because of its unique and slightly dark and dingy front cover. It is also quite a unique magazine from many others that soecialise in unique genres because of the different colours and designs I used while creating it, but mostly I am very pleased with how authentic ‘Soundwave’ looks compared to real magazines of a similar genre.

Evaluation-Question 7

Evaluation-Question 6

When taking the photos for my magazine I learned a little bit about how to take photos and edit them. For starters the project made me look at locations and lighting a bit more than I did before, this was needed to find the right spot and time for my model’s photo to be taken. I also learn a tiny bit more about how to properly use a more high tech camera than I was used to.

While working on creating my media product I learned a lot about Photoshop and how the programme works. Photoshop was really hard to use when I first started to make the magazine, as you get used to how the tools on Photoshop works it get a lot easier to navigate around and helps you to explore the thousands of options on the programme. The main reason Photoshop is good for this sort of job is because of how it has all of the layer functions it has and how you can adjust every layers colour and size to make the magazine perfect.
The only part of this product I struggled with was the fact we had to upload all of the work to blogger. This is hard to do as you can’t simply just upload a file such as power point or word. This makes it hard as you have to convert the files to a website.
Therefore I have learnt quite a bit about converting files so they can be viewed through blogger. I also learned about the voice recording app on my phone as this came in handy for question 2.

Evaluation-Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

1.     Did you like the aesthetic of the magazine?
The focus group said: 'yeah I really think the colours are good and stand out.'
'Its good the layout stands out and there is a theme all the way through the pages.'
'The images are all relevant, and all look quite good on a page.'
2.     Was the article full of relevant information?
They said: 'Yeah it was well laid out for a Q & A'
'It was good to read, and all relevant to the audience.'
3.     Did the magazine look as if it belongs to the drum & bass genre?
They said: 'Definitely it looks like it belongs in that genre perfectly'
'The layout and colour helps it to look like part of the genre.'
4.     Was the colour scheme appealing?
They all said: 'yes the colour scheme was good, and looks like part of the genre.'

5.     Would you buy this magazine?
They said: 'Yes the magazine looks quite professionally done.'
'If I was a fan of Drum & Bass the magazine would appeal to me.'
6.     Any other comments?
They said: 'No'
Here is the video of the focus group I conducted.

Evaluation-Introduction

The product I made is called ‘Soundcloud.’ It is a drum & bass magazine that I created for media, the magazine consists of a double page spread, a contents page and a front cover. ‘Soundcloud’ was created for quite a unique audience. Drum & bass fans would buy my magazine as it is designed to appeal to their unique music tastes. This niche target audience will mean that my magazine will not be massively popular because it is such a small target audience, but the magazine will still be bought  by the small target audience because it is one of the only drum & bass magazine out there.

Finished my magazine!

I have finally finished all of the pages on my magazine, this was one of the hardest tasks we have been set so far. I think my magazine pages looks quite good when it is all together and finished.

DPS part 4

This is the final attempt at my double page spread. I have settled on this layout because it looks more professional and complete. I decided to go with the half and half colour split because it makes the page look a lot more interesting.

DPS part 3

This was my first try at changing up the the colour scheme and layout of the text and images. This doesn't look very profesional. I will have to try again at making the page suite the genre and look more professional.

DPS part 2

This is the second try at my double page spread and I have added all of the text and relevant images to the pages, this has made it look a lot better and more complete. I will start to play with different colours and layouts to suite the genre more.

DPS part 1

This is the first version of the DPS and it needs a lot of work. I still think I need to change the layout and colour design of the entire page but that can happen at a later date when I have added a lot more text and images to the page.

Contents page part 4

This is the final version of my contents page and looks quite good on its own. I added the rest of the page references and some contact information for the magazine.

Contents page part 3

I have added a lot more text to this copy of the contents page and it looks a lot more complete and professional  I still need to finish my page references and look at how organised the images and text are when it is finished.

Contents page part 2

This is the second part of my contents page i thought about the layout of the text and decided to go with two columns and put the other image on the left side. This needs a lot more work with the text and page references.

Contents page part 1

This is the first draft of my contents page. I havent put all of the details onto the page yet but need to add more page references and some different images. I also need to think about what colours to use on the page.
