Almost done

Most of my evaluation work is on here. I only need to add a few of the videos and images to the posts to have finished my evaluation.

Finally Slide share works

This has been the main problem with uploading power points. I was trying to upload the power points for question 3 and 4 straight to blogger, obviously this didn't work. I found slide share and had to put the power points onto that then copy the link to blogger.

Evaluation troubles

I have uploaded parts of each one of my evaluation question. The only problem is trying to upload power points and videos. This is going to take me a lot of time and I hope it doesn't make me miss the deadline for the work being handed in.

Evaluation-Conclusion

I think at the end of this project I have done reasonably well in creating ‘Soundwave.’ I tried to make the magazine as real to an actual magazine as possible, I think that ‘Soundwave’ could possibly be sold in a shop after a little bit more work and refining. The overall success of ‘Soundwave’ would be based on whether anyone would actually buy the magazine in a shop; this is hard to measure as I cannot actually market it in any major shops. However I think the cover of the magazine is quite eye catching and look reasonably authentic. This is because of the amount of time I spent making sure the cover was detailed and as close to a professional looking magazines such as ‘mixmag’ that I could, I found the only real challenge was learning to use Photoshop from scratch. During this process I have learned a lot about the form and structure of magazines from looking at authentic magazines, but it has also helped me to become more creative with the space provided on the pages, I really enjoyed the challenge of putting all of the relevant information on a page and playing around with different styles and layouts until it looks great. The double page spread was my favourite page to produce and I do think it shows with the unique but easy to read design of the article. Overall I think ‘Soundwave’ if it was to be produced and sold in a shop would attract the target audience of drum & bass music. This is because of its unique and slightly dark and dingy front cover. It is also quite a unique magazine from many others that soecialise in unique genres because of the different colours and designs I used while creating it, but mostly I am very pleased with how authentic ‘Soundwave’ looks compared to real magazines of a similar genre.

Evaluation-Question 7

Evaluation-Question 6

When taking the photos for my magazine I learned a little bit about how to take photos and edit them. For starters the project made me look at locations and lighting a bit more than I did before, this was needed to find the right spot and time for my model’s photo to be taken. I also learn a tiny bit more about how to properly use a more high tech camera than I was used to.

While working on creating my media product I learned a lot about Photoshop and how the programme works. Photoshop was really hard to use when I first started to make the magazine, as you get used to how the tools on Photoshop works it get a lot easier to navigate around and helps you to explore the thousands of options on the programme. The main reason Photoshop is good for this sort of job is because of how it has all of the layer functions it has and how you can adjust every layers colour and size to make the magazine perfect.
The only part of this product I struggled with was the fact we had to upload all of the work to blogger. This is hard to do as you can’t simply just upload a file such as power point or word. This makes it hard as you have to convert the files to a website.
Therefore I have learnt quite a bit about converting files so they can be viewed through blogger. I also learned about the voice recording app on my phone as this came in handy for question 2.

Evaluation-Question 5

1.     Did you like the aesthetic of the magazine?
The focus group said: 'yeah I really think the colours are good and stand out.'
'Its good the layout stands out and there is a theme all the way through the pages.'
'The images are all relevant, and all look quite good on a page.'

They said: 'Definitely it looks like it belongs in that genre perfectly'
'The layout and colour helps it to look like part of the genre.'
4.     Was the colour scheme appealing?
They all said: 'yes the colour scheme was good, and looks like part of the genre.'
